Assuming you have found a name and have internet access with one of the many providers such as Compuserve, a telephone company, AOL or one of the many private local providers, it is time to find a Web Server.
You must first have a server and go thru a server to obtain a URL.
URLs in the USA are registered exclusively with InterNIC with the exception of military and government.
Registering a URL with InterNIC is a complicated task well worth a fifty dollar charge by the server.
After registering, Internic will directly bill you a seventy dollar charge.This covers two years after which the cost is thirty five dollars per year.

Perhaps you just want to reserve a name for future use. This is okay, but the server who is renting the space will charge roughly ten dollars per month as opposed to thirty five when the site is up.
